KTM 2016

KTM 2016, the ninth edition of the Kerala Travel Mart was conducted from 28th to 30th Sep’16 at Samudrika & Sagara Convention Centre, Cochin, Kerala.

The Mart was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala Sri Pinarayi Vijayan at a colorful function on 27th Sep’16 at Le Meridien Convention Centre.
KTM, the largest conclave of tourism stakeholders in the state and the only such gathering in India focusing on a single destination, had 238 International and 638 Domestic selected Buyers who attended the Mart.

There were 60,000 scheduled meetings during the first two days while the final day which was open to the public witnessed around 40,000 unscheduled meetings between the Buyers and the Sellers.

For the highlights of the event

With 265 stalls over an expansive venue of around 75,000 sq. ft, KTM 2016 showcased a wide array of products and services like tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, resorts, houseboats, home-stays, ayurveda centres and many others. A couple of neighboring states also participated in the event.

KTM 2016 had as its core themes, ‘Responsible Tourism’ and ‘Muziris and Spice Route’.

With an aim to promote eco-friendly and responsible tourism and empowering the local community, KTM has adopted the CSR nine point charter termed as ‘Agenda 9’ . This charter calls for measures to tackle waste management, promote organic farming, efficient use of energy and extensive use of local produce and products. Other key areas are rainwater harvesting, reducing the use of plastics, and improving greenery.

There were post-Mart FAM tours for the Buyers to selected popular destinations within the state to give them a feel of Kerala by way of its heritage, art, culture and cuisine.
